Cold and Flu season is now among us. Here are some ways to ensure your immune system is in gear and ready to take on those germs.

1. Exercise stimulates your immune system. Cleanse your lungs with some crisp fall air and head out for a walk, hike in the woods, or whatever activity you prefer. Move your body daily, aim for 150 minutes or more per week.

2. Cut out sugar, it dampens the immune system and leaves your body more susceptible to infections. Stick to a whole foods diet to nourish your body, including immune enhancing foods like raw garlic, onions and ginger.

3. Supplement with Vitamin D. Come in to discuss dosages that are best suited for you and your family.

4. Relax…stress itself can take it’s toll on our immune system (among many other ill effects), take time to relax daily through journaling, deep breathing, prayer.

5. Homeopathic Immune support. Come in for your immune boosting visit to support your health this fall and winter. Specific homeopathic remedies can be helpful in preventing and treating colds and flus.

6. Sleep well. Sleep is so important for energy, immune health, hormonal balance and mood. Having issues with sleep? I can help.

7. Quit smoking. The obvious harm on the respiratory system is especially troublesome during the cold and flu season. Join our quit smoking program and be supported on your journey to better health.

8. Drink plenty of water. Aim for 6-8 cups per day.

Suffering from a cold or flu? Come in for an acute visit for an individualized treatment plan. Acupuncture, specific herbs, nutrients and other therapies are excellent ways to support the body, manage symptoms, and speeding up recovery time.
