Oven roasted chickpeas are a great protein-rich snack option. They make for a crunchy treat on their own while watching tv, a crouton replacement for a salad, or an addition to vegetable soup. The crunch is maintained when consumed fresh out of the oven, but can still be enjoyed as a softer version the next day.

1 can chickpeas

2 Tbsp olive oil

1 tsp of spice of choice



  1. Preheat the oven to 450F.
  2. Rinse chickpeas well, dry well between two dishcloths.
  3. In a bowl, mix the chickpeas, olive oil, sea salt, and spice of choice (ie. cayenne pepper, cumin, garlic salt, chilli pepper, turmeric).
  4. Spread single layer on a baking sheet, and bake for 20-25 min, until browned and crunchy. Watch carefully the last few minutes to avoid burning.
